Safe Spaces is a documentary web series that is ultimately, a celebration of identity. Safe Spaces explores locations across Canada that allow individuals to express themselves freely and openly. Each episode will showcase different protagonists who have found solace in the community and what the safe space means to them.

Safe Spaces asks many big and tough questions, including: what constitutes the “other” and when “othered”, how does that individual feel safe? Simultaneously, it asks the audience to confront what we project onto individuals to make them feel unsafe. The series will look at how cities and communities influence the lives of those inhabiting them and what happens when a city doesn’t provide what its community needs or wants, sparking conversation and asking  where those who don’t fit in with the status quo go in order to feel safe.

Above all however, Safe Spaces is a positive and affirming tribute to be able to live life authentically, openly, and proudly.
